Actually, I hadn't wanted to buy a new one. In fact, I was going to just replace the top and the crank arm handle and continue to use my old one (which was only one month out of warranty) but then I saw the transparent one on special (open box) and thought "gee, that looks like fun!" It is!
Plus the machine seems to rotate more smoothly than before. I find myself making up excuses to do laundry. I love that I can scale the size up or down. Not to mention the incredible savings over laundromats! But more than money, it's the ultimate in convenience.
Here's my exact routine:
I presoak in bucket with a tablespoon of a homemade mixture of borax, sodium percarbonate, washing soda and baking soda (equal parts).
After about 3/4 of an hour, I then spin out the dirty water (Ninja Spin dryer for the win!). Next I wash in my transparent WW with only a tsp of my laundry booster powder (dissolved in hot water before adding to the wash) + a tsp --or less!-- of the ECOS liquid soap from Costco, crank for 1-2 minutes, spin out the water again, add some fresh, cool water to the WW plus a TBLSPN of distilled white vinegar, crank for about 30 seconds, spin again for about a minute or two, then I hang out on the line, or if the weather isn't cooperating, indoors on hangers.
Really, the spin dryer removes so much water that, normally, everything is dry in about an hour, bed linens, even less, about 15 minutes. I could go on and on, but if I had children, I would get a transparent WW for each of them so that they could wash their own clothing!
I hesitated to buy it at first, but the guarantee and the warranty, made me take a chance. So glad I did.
