 Septic System Product Information

Some of the best septic system products available are the following:
1. The
Filtrol 160, an inline filter that hooks up to your washing machine. Lint from washing machines is one of the leading causes of septic system failure. Lint screens and nylon socks catch less than 5% of the lint. The small lint particles don't settle in the tank, they are flushed out to the drainfield and can plug it up. The Filtrol 160 is the only septic system product that can eliminate this problem and has been featured on CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS and FOX

2. Effluent filters, installed by a contractor, are cheap insurance for your septic system. They are installed in the exit baffle of the septic tank and prevent the larger solids from getting out of the tank and plugging up the drain field. Septic tank pumping
removes these solids from the tank.

3. Gravelless chamber systems, such as The Infiltrator Chamber System, are one of the biggest advances in the septic system industry. Compared to a conventional system, chamber systems provide significantly more leaching capacity per square foot. Also, the chamber systems are designed for quick and easy installation. Only the leachfield area of your yard is affected. This differs from stone and pipe installations which require heavy equipment for hauling and dumping the stone. A significant amount of cleanup is required in stone and pipe situations and the potential for yard damage is greatly increased

4. Fake landscaping rocks. Many states are now requiring inspection pipes and covers be exposed. There are some very good reasons for this, but they can be eyesores. You can solve this problem by covering them with decorative fake rocks from http://www.fakerock.com

5. Odors are a big problem for some homes with septic systems. Vents on the roof allow the pressure to equalize as waste water flows down through the drain pipes. As wind blows over the house, the air currents that are supposed to carry the septic system gases up and way can instead bring them into your living space. The Sweetair filtration device is an activated carbon filter that prevents this problem by removing the offensive odors as they come out of the vent. This septic system product costs about $50 and most homeowners can easily attach the filter themselves in minutes. Available at http://www.sweetair.com

6. It is often difficult to install a septic system on properties with high water tables, bedrock, non-permeable soils, small lots etc. The AlasCan is perfect for situations like these. This self-contained treatment system can fit right into the basement or be buried in the yard like a septic tank system. Developed in Alaska, it is a septic system product that has proven itself in the most demanding environments. They are made by the Equaris Corporation.

7. A typical household washing machine can use up to 60 gallons of water per load. On a heavy wash day you can easily put 400, 500 or 600 gallons of water down the drain in a few hours. This high volume of water not only floods your system, it can also flush solids out of your tank into the drainfield. There are some highly efficient washing machines, such as Asko and Staber which use significantly smaller amounts of water.

8. Sodium from laundry detergents and household cleaning products can bind with clay soils to seal up your drain field and cause it to fail. Septic Seep is a septic system product that corrects this problem. It also has the added advantage of dispersing greases.
