Q.1: What is the length of the hose that is shipped with the Filtrol 160 system?
6 feet long.

Q.2: Can you please tell me if the Micron 160 Filter system (drain hose) is required to be at a height ABOVE the wallbox pipe for gravitational draining or will the water be pumped upward if mounted BELOW wallbox pipe?
Yes. It is a gravity filter, so the filter must be above the discharge point.  in other words, you need to hang the filter housing so the bottom is above the wallbox a few inches so the hose comes
out of the bottom and continues down into the wallbox/standpipe/laundry tub.

Q.3: How big is the unit? How much room do I need to install it?
The Filtrol 160 is 7" and projects about 7 1/2" from the wall. From the top fitting to the bottom it is about 13" but you should allow at least 6 inches above the unit to remove the top and clean the filter.  You will not want to install the Filtrol 160™ under a low hanging cabinet. This could interfere with the removal of the filter for cleaning. If possible, the top of the Filtrol 160™ should not exceed 60 inches. Discharge hose can be routed to a standpipe, wallbox or laundry tub. If low-hanging laundry cabinets are a problem, in some cases you can hang it on the side wall. It comes with 6 extra feet of hose which can be very helpful in such cases.

Q.4: What happens if the filter gets clogged? Can the thing overflow and have water all over the place?"
The filter has internal bypass holes. If the filter clogs, water will bypass the filter, staying inside the canister. Of course, it won't filter the water in this case.

Q.5: How often do I have to clean the filter? How much do replacement filters cost, and how long do they last?
In most cases, you would clean the filter every 1-3 weeks, by emptying it out over a garbage container. The replacement filters cost $12.95 and normally last 1-3 years. Most people will order a second filter to save on shipping charges.

Q.6: What is the filter capacity in gallons per minute?
The unit can filter 20+ gallons per minute. Most washing machines discharge 11-15 gallons per minute.

Q.7: How long does it take to install? Is it difficult to install?
It only takes about 10-15 minutes to install. It is not difficult to install, we get very few requests for help installing it from customers. However we are happy to help if you do have questions.
