Title:Cleaning a Washing Machine
Description:

Cleaning a Washing Machine

Why is cleaning a washing machine important?
The inside of your washing machine is constantly being subjected to dirty water, mineral deposit, detergent deposits etc. Every time you wash your clothes, hard water and detergents cause lime scale and rust to build up inside the tub, pump and hoses. This build-up reduces the ability of your washing machine to perform. Mineral build-up acts as an abrasive, increasing the wear on your clothes. Cleaning your washing machine eliminates these problems.

Be aware that rusty spots on the washing machine barrel can indicate damage to that part. The only solution in that case is to replace the washing machine barrel (though it may be more cost-effective to replace the entire washer). Don't sand rust spots off of the inside of your washer. This will further damage the barrel.

After you run the cycle of hot water, the other soap and grime should be sufficiently loosened. Remove the fabric softener receptacle and soak it in hot water and detergent. Clean the bleach dispenser with a spray cleaner and paper towels and Q-tips. Don’t forget to clean the top rim of the wash bucket as it is up and under where it can’t usually be seen easily and becomes quite soiled. Run the washer empty on a hot cycle one more time.

To clean your washing machine, we recommend a product called Washer Magic. Washer Magic will eradicate lime deposits and soap scum from your washer. It works well in all machines, including front loaders. Most odor and mold problems can be avoided with regular use of this product.

Washer Magic, when circulated in the machine during the wash cycle, increases the solubility of lime scale build-up. The surfactant contained in the solution then dissolves soap scum and mineral deposits that are left behind during the normal operation of the machine. After the lime scale and deposits have been dissolved, they are flushed away by the washing machines’ rinse cycle.
