An LPP or low pressure pipe septic system is a type of alternative septic system. It consists of a network of small diameter perforated pipes place in shallow trenches.
Pros
LPP septic systems were developed to eliminate problems such as soil clogging and saturated soils in areas with high water tables.
Because a pump is used, the septic system can be uphill from the home
Drain fields can be located on sloping or uneven terrain
Reduced gravel requirements compared with conventional septic systems
Reduction in drain field size
Cons
An LPP septic system may cost twice as much as a conventional septic system to install and should be inspected every 6 months. This cost also depends on the amount of LPP systems in the area, as a general rule, the more LPP systems in a community, the lower the cost.
